Sunflowers.

We have planted our own sunflower seeds at school. We hope the grow nice and tall like this one.

Football Skills and Games.

This week we have been working on our football skills. We all improved our dribbling, kicking and trapping. On Friday we had a tournament on the bottom field. The team from Germany were the overall winners.

Hutt Intermediate Visit.

On Wednesday some Hutt Intermediate students came to perform at our school.
There were two bands, an orchestra and choir, a Kapa Haka group and a dance group who did a Christmas dance. We really enjoyed all the acts.

Pack the Bus.

Today 'Pack the Bus" came to our school. Lots of us brought things to give to people in need. Father Christmas was there as well as all his helpers.

Cushion Making.

Today we finished our cushions. Some of us outlined our pictures with pastel then we ironed them to set the paints and pastels. Next we put the back and front together and sewed them with the help of our two wonderful mother helpers. We think they are colourful and comfortable.

E-learning.

Today Room 1 worked with a Room 7 buddy to learn how to safely use 'skooville.com'
We had a very busy time and this will be followed by another buddy session and then Room 1 will be able to use this site by themselves.

Reading Rotations.

At reading time we have different reading activities we can work on. We can buddy read, share big books and read plays and poems. The ipads are very popular!

Buddy Day

This week we've been dressing our buddies for people to have on 'Buddy Day'.
We worked in our Whanau groups to design and decorate our buddies to look like real children.
These buddies are to remind parents to treat children nicely.
We were all very proud of our buddies.

Red Day for Heart Kids.

Today we have dressed in something red to collect money for our Heart Kids.
When we were in the hall it looked very red.
It was very interesting listening to our speakers.

Athletics Day.

On Tuesday we had our school athletics day. Everyone went to the bottom field to do sprints then the Juniors came up to the top field. We did relays, pony jumps, throwing and jumping. At the end we had a sack race. We all had a great time and the weather was perfect.

Assembly Dance.

Today we did a dance for assembly.
It was called John Kanaka naka.
We sang, danced and clapped.

Welcome back from Japan.

Look who is back at school from his holiday in Japan.
He went to his aunties wedding in Tokyo and
he also went to school in Japan for two weeks.

Spiders Net.

"At lunchtime today I made a net out of flax and grass.
It looked like a spiders web.
Before I came back inside I broke it...isn't it lucky we had some photos."

Grandparents Day.

We had a lovely time sharing our work with our Grandparents.
They all went to the hall and we sang and danced.
We all joined in with 'The Bird Dance'-a great effort by all.

Rats Visit Room 1.

Last week we had a visit from Keith's pet rats called Fish and Chips.
The are very cute and soft to touch.
They live in a cage in Kieth's bedroom.

Room 1's Assembly

On Friday the 20th of September it was Room 1's assembly.
We all took part in our Te Reo dance called Pakipaki and the poem called Alligator Pie.
Some of us presented the awards and birthday stickers and some people introduced the items.
We all enjoyed leading the assembly.

Bring and Buy.

On Wednesday we had a 'Bring and Buy' day at school. The proceeds of this day are going towards a Christmas party for children who do not have a lot.
 The School Council did a great job of setting up the tables and selling the toys, books and food. We all enjoyed our shopping in the afternoon.
